Press invitation: Diversity Charter Sweden questions the top EU parliamentary candidates on diversity and inclusive labour.

The European Parliament elections are on 9 June. To get answers to questions about how politicians view diversity and inclusion issues at the European level, Diversity Charter Sweden has invited top EU candidates for all parliamentary parties to a webcast conversation to discuss these issues. As far as we know, this is the first time a similar dialogue has been offered.

The webinar will take place on Friday 31 May, 08:30-09:30. Take part in the broadcast by sign up here:

At the time of writing, the participants are Abir Al-Sahlani (Centre Party), Michaela Hollis (Christian Democrats), Karin Karlsbro (Liberals), Magnus P Wåhlin (Greens), Evin Incir (Social Democrats) and Beatrice Timgren (Sweden Democrats). The other two parties have not yet registered a representative.

We would like answers to the following four questions.

  1. What concrete and prioritised proposals do you and your party have in the EU to create conditions for increased diversity and an inclusive working life?
  2. What opportunities and obstacles do you see in the coming years for greater diversity and an inclusive labour market?
  3. According to the "EU Action Plan against Racism 2020-2025", 29% feel they are discriminated against on the basis of ethnic origin when it comes to jobs, how will you push to keep this issue high on the EU agenda?
  4. What are your and your party's views on the CSRD Directive and the common rules on corporate sustainability reporting? Specifically, what are your views on corporate sustainability reporting on social and human rights and diversity issues?

- It is of utmost importance which MEPs are elected, as it is there that laws, directives and action plans are shaped that affect our working life. By voting on 9 June, we can influence which politicians can work for a more inclusive working life. Therefore, I am grateful that we can offer this important dialogue to Diversity Charter Sweden's members and others who are interested, says Anna Carlsson Sigstedt, Secretary General of Diversity Charter Sweden.
