International day against homophobia, biphobia and transphobia
May 17
17 May is the International Day against Homophobia, Transgenderism and Biphobia. The choice of this particular date is because it marks the commemoration of a historic moment in 1990 when the World Health Organisation (WHO) removed homosexuality from its list of classified diseases. Today's aim is to raise awareness of and promote the rights affecting queer people, lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and other gender identities (LGBTI+), and to stimulate interest in LGBTI issues globally.
