International Holocaust Memorial Day

On 27 January, people all over the world come together in an annual event. It is the international day of remembrance for the victims of the Holocaust - the same date that the Auschwitz-Birkenau extermination camp was liberated in 1945. Since 2001, Holocaust Memorial Day has been a national day of remembrance in Sweden. In 2005, the United Nations declared it an international day of remembrance. It is a day when we honour the memory of all those murdered during the Holocaust and those who resisted.
