Diversity Charter Sweden's annual meeting elected a new chair and board!

On Friday 31 March, we held our annual meeting, which was attended by around thirty delegates, elected representatives and, new for this year, office staff.

Katarina Önell from Sifo-Kantar wielded the chairman's gavel with aplomb and after the usual annual meeting items were completed, the meeting moved on to the election of a new board.

Petra Karmteg, DNB Sweden was elected Chairman. It is a two-year appointment and has most recently been held by Gabriella Wiiala, who, after five years as President, has decided not to stand for re-election.

The following were elected as new members of the Board Caroline Liwång, Handelsbanken, Stefan Kulhanek, Axians and Tomas Oxendorff, Nordea. Their assignments are also for two years, and to create the conditions for continuity in the work of the Board, half of them are re-elected every other year. However, Tomas Oxendorff was elected for one year, as it was a replacement election. In addition, the following were elected Frida Marty WallgrenVattenfall as a member for two years, having previously been an alternate member of the Board.

Nazanin Nematshahi, Microsoft, Mats Wernheim, the Jobs Festival, Ulrika Wikberg from Beijer Byggmaterial were elected as alternates. Alternates are re-elected every year. Being an alternate is a good way to learn more about what it is like to be part of the board of Diversity Charter Sweden.

Can you guess who is a master of Christmas rhymes, who is a trained chef with 10 years' experience in the catering industry? There is also a member of the Board who danced both ballet and Latin as a youngster, and another who is an expert at reversing a trailer. Without revealing too much, you will find here who it is and the others in the board (under "read more").

We take this opportunity to extend a warm welcome to the new board members and thank the outgoing chair, members and alternates for their fantastic work on the board.

Decision to change the association's statutes postponed

Diversity Charters Sweden's statutes can be described as our internal laws. It is these that in many cases determine how and in what way we should conduct our activities.

The statutes that the association has today are from 2016 and proposals to revise them have been discussed. Among other things, there have been requests that:

  • Complete the purpose clause, i.e. what the organisation should do.
  • Clarify what is required to be a member representative at the annual meeting and who can be elected to the board.
  • Adjust the agenda of the annual meeting, both as a consequence of other amendments and items that make the annual meeting more flexible.
  • Clarify the role of the nomination committee and how they should work.

The annual meeting decided to postpone the issue of the association's statutes to give the new board the opportunity to familiarise itself with the proposed changes to the statutes and to have a lawyer look at the possible consequences of the changes.

Make sure to book now the 20 March at 14-16 for the 2024 annual meeting.

Think about whether you want to join the board or if you have suggestions for improving the Diversity Charter Sweden. More information on this will follow. You can contact the Nomination Committee here: valberedningen@diversitycharter.se, convener is Daniel Almgren.

Can we develop the annual meeting to be an even bigger democracy party next year? Who knows, if you have ideas, get in touch.
