Friday Knowledge - Inclusion and gender identity at work - what do we need to consider?

February 28 @ 8:30 am - 9:30 am
Inbjudan till Fredagskunskap Datum, tid, plats skrivet i vitt. Färgglad cirkulär logotyp med texten "Diversity Charter Sweden" på mörkblå bakgrund.

What do we miss when we talk about inclusion?

Many people talk about inclusion, but how do we create workplaces where everyone feels welcome - regardless of gender identity? By highlighting trans inclusion and understanding the everyday lives of trans people, we can shape a work environment where everyone feels welcome. During Friday Knowledge, we will go through common pitfalls and provide concrete tips on how to prevent discrimination and create a more inclusive culture. Whether you are a manager, a colleague or work in HR - this is knowledge you can benefit from.

What does the latest research say? What barriers do trans people face in the labour market?

Trans people are more likely to experience unemployment, poverty and discrimination - but a lack of research means interventions often miss the mark. On Friday Knowledge, you'll hear fresh insights from the Trans-Labor Market-Wallet report, which highlights the experiences of trans people in the labour market. The study shows that trans people's working lives are affected by factors such as reduced ability to work, difficulties in living as themselves and exposure to harassment.

What do we need to understand - and what can we do?

Trans inclusion leads to a more equal workplace, safer employees and better business results. An inclusive culture reduces sick leave and increases well-being - which benefits everyone. By understanding the most common pitfalls and filling the knowledge gaps, we can create a work environment where everyone has the opportunity to be themselves and contribute in the best way.

What will you take away from Friday Knowledge?

  • Insights from the report Trans-Labor Market-Wallet - the labour market experiences of trans people
Christina Ahlzén, Equality and Diversity Consultant at Medida, and Lukas Romson, Equality Consultant and Trans Expert at Rätt OLika, present key insights from the report. What is the reality for trans people in the labour market? What challenges do they face, and what changes are needed for a more inclusive labour market?
  • When gender identity is not right - creating an inclusive workplace
Magdalena Jacobsson, Operations Manager at Keolis, shares her experiences as a transgender person in the workplace. She talks about challenges, opportunities and how employers can work actively to create a safe and inclusive work environment where everyone can be themselves.
  • Practical advice for trans inclusion in the workplace
What does a trans-inclusive workplace mean in practice? We clarify key concepts and provide concrete tips on how to treat trans people with respect, prevent discrimination and create a work environment where everyone feels welcome and safe.
