At the same time, SPP sees that many people are leaving the labour market earlier than they want to. Not because they lack the will or ability, but because they are excluded.\n\nAgeism costs Sweden SEK 11 billion - every year. It is about missed growth, lost tax revenues, lower pensions and people who are not given the opportunity to end their working lives as they wish. That is why SPP is pushing the issue of ageism.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-42c8b4d elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"42c8b4d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h2 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">SPP's work in practice<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-527c339 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"527c339\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p><strong>SPP has pursued the issue of ageism through several different initiatives that together have focused on age discrimination, pensions and the possibility of a longer working life. The work has included a report on the consequences of ageism for individuals and society, the Pension Premiere as a way of changing the image of pensions and the Dream Capsule as a tool for getting more people to dream about their lives as pensioners.<\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-5b92d49 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"5b92d49\" data-element_type=\"section\" data-e-type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-9790266\" data-id=\"9790266\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-48739ad elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"48739ad\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Report shows how ageism affects individuals and society<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-d8766c0 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"d8766c0\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>In spring 2025, SPP released a report showing the impact of age discrimination, both on individuals and society.<\/p><p><strong>The report was based on an extensive survey and showed that:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>One in three recent retirees would have preferred to continue working.<\/li><li>Long-term unemployment among 60-64 year-olds has risen sharply.<\/li><li>Sweden loses up to SEK 11 billion in GDP - every year.<\/li><li>For the individual, this means thousands of dollars less - every month.<\/li><\/ul><p><strong>To counter this, SPP has proposed five concrete measures:<\/strong><\/p><ul><li>Reduced employer contributions from the age of 60.<\/li><li>Enhanced earned income tax credit.<\/li><li>More flexible working conditions and the possibility of teleworking.<\/li><li>Customised occupational pension contracts linked to target ages.<\/li><li>Increased age for occupational pension contributions.<\/li><\/ul><p>Engagement on the issue has been at an all-time high, both in traditional media and on social channels, with thousands of people sharing their own experiences.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-1b5505c8\" data-id=\"1b5505c8\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-199bef23 elementor-widget elementor-widget-image\" data-id=\"199bef23\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"image.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"809\" src=\"https:\/\/diversitycharter.se\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/06\/SPP-case-1024x809.png\" class=\"attachment-large size-large wp-image-19920\" alt=\"Pension\u00e4rer firar p\u00e5 gatan. The aim was to help change the image of what it means to grow older and retire.<\/p><p>Many people have an inaccurate and outdated image of what it means to be retired, associating it with older people living a secluded life where all the fun is gone. This image reinforces the \u201dI'll do it later\u201d mentality and fuels disinterest in retirement savings.<\/p><p>As one of Sweden's few pure pension companies, SPP sees that the company needs to own the subject of occupational pensions, take responsibility and do what it can to change the image of pensions - from being \u201dthe beginning of the end\u201d to being \u201dthe beginning of the good years\u201d. The ambition is for both younger and older people to see retirement as something big and exciting, where they themselves can help create a future to enjoy.<\/p><p>At the end of August 2024, SPP had an open bus with around 40 new pensioners and SPP customers travelling around the streets of Stockholm to celebrate the new era in their lives. Later that day, SPP organised a party at Stureplan 1 with around 500 happy SPP pensioners, who were treated to a premiere party with a DJ, confetti cannons, drinks and snacks.<\/p><p>The Pension Premiere was a success and SPP has now established it as an annual tradition. For the 2025 edition, they were therefore able to scale up the activity with more partners and invited politicians and people from the business community.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-9b841bf elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"9b841bf\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">The Dream Capsule got more people to articulate their retirement dreams<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-32affd3 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"32affd3\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\tSPP also launched the Dream Capsule in 2024, a tool to get customers and potential customers to dream about their life in retirement.\nBy 2025, the Dream Capsule had generated more than 6000 dreams linked to retirement. It has, for example, been featured at the Tech Arena and in Almedalen and has been an appreciated and well-attended activity for customers, potential customers, employees and partners.\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-5dfa686 elementor-widget elementor-widget-heading\" data-id=\"5dfa686\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"heading.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<h3 class=\"elementor-heading-title elementor-size-default\">Insights and results<\/h3>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0cd8b4d elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0cd8b4d\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>Both the report and the Pension Premiere have received a lot of media attention.
