We are happy to welcome our new Communications Officer, Maya, to the team at Diversity Charter Sweden! Maya, what attracted you to us?- Above all, I saw this job as
Maya, what attracted you to us?
- Above all, I saw this job as an opportunity to be part of creating change. For me, communication is about making a real difference. Working for Diversity Charter Sweden gives me an opportunity to help companies understand that diversity and inclusion are not only important values, but also crucial for long-term success.
Tell us a bit about yourself and what you have done before?
- I was lucky enough to grow up in a multicultural environment - I spent part of my childhood in Nepal, and my family is spread across the US, Nepal, Germany and Norway. My international background has given me an insight into how different perspectives and experiences can help us find new ways to solve problems.
If we talk about my work experience, I have worked in communications in several different roles. Most recently, I worked at Invest Stockholm and Stockholm Business Region, where I was responsible for social media and project communication. There I was able to help promote some of Stockholm's most exciting initiatives, such as Stockholm Impact Week and Stockholm Scaleup Programme and Stockholm Business Alliance. I have also worked at Swedish Patent and Registration Office (PRV) as social media manager and press communicator, and at Almi Stockholm Sörmland where I was responsible for building up the company's social channels from scratch.
I have also volunteered with 2 Sisters Nepal Cooking School, an initiative that combines cooking with female entrepreneurship and social sustainability. "2 Sisters" is about sisterhood, where women support and uplift each other to create a better life for themselves and their families.
What do you hope to contribute to Diversity Charter Sweden?
- I am looking forward to contributing with my creativity and my way of thinking outside the box. I love finding new solutions by seeing things from different perspectives. Diversity is a driving force for me - I believe that we all grow by understanding and appreciating differences. I want to be part of creating communication that not only engages and inspires, but also creates real change.
Welcome to the team, Maya!
